This picture postcard Buckinghamshire village has got so much going for it. There’s Denham conservation area, which recognizes the architectural and historical importance of the village, Denham Lock (a peaceful part of the Grand Union Canal), acres of Green Belt land, and access to the county’s best state, grammar and independent schools.

Denham character

Living in Denham is all about the wisteria – the unmistakable purple flowering plant growing on the outside of the village’s handsome red brick homes. The blooms are so remarkable that it has made Denham a favourite film location among directors looking for a quintessential English village. The Grade II listed 16th century Southlands Manor, The Old Bakery – reputedly dating back to the 14th century - and St Mary’s church, with its Norman and Tudor details, give residents a glimpse into the village’s past.

Transport in Denham

Denham remains ever popular as it has two train stations – Denham Golf Club and Denham – and services into London Marylebone, via Wembley Stadium, take as little as 25 and 22 minutes, respectively. Less than two miles away is Uxbridge for the London Underground’s Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, and lying the same distance from Denham is the M40.
